Their main goal with the Niles Flying A is to create a welcoming space for all to enjoy through monthly motorhead gatherings, food/ beverage pairing events, and offering a unique space for anything imaginable. Krysten and René are partners in business and in life. Together since 2002, they have embarked on many amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and adventures. The Galaxia de la Baja is one of their proudest and craziest projects. René converted a 1964 Galaxie into a Baja ready race car. Krysten designed public relations materials and is still the operations director coordinating all racing relations and logistics for the Baja races.

The result was a winning team of eight people, racing down the Baja against other vintage vehicles over four days. The Galaxia de la Baja came in 2nd in her first run out, capturing a class win in 2017. When Krysten and René are involved, you are guaranteed a fantastic time, great laughs and great memories! They have an incredible work ethic and thrill for life.

Community Relationships

René and Krysten care and support the Niles community, developing long term relationships with the businesses and residents of Niles. René first saw the place in the early 80s when it was a repair shop. He knew then he wanted to do something special with that location. After nearly thirty years, they are finally making their dream a reality.

As the building was restored, the potential become clear – revive the car culture and create a space the community can be proud of.

Together, René and Krysten are creating the Niles Flying A as a scenic and historical destination. They could not succeed in this effort without the support of local community resources – Gary Mills of Mills Mechanical, Barry Jennings our favorite local painter, Rago Neon, Ken Davis of Spellbound Sign Co, Robert Daulton, Eric A Hassett Corporation, Al Persalis of Fat Cat Tires, Dubois Roofing, Kat’s Screen Printing, and Alternative Power & Electric.
